Winner of the Sundance Film Festival
In 2005 I was approached by three investors who wanted to produce a low budget art film. I contacted a Director I had worked with. After reviewing countless piles of scripts, we ended up green-lighting a script penned by the Director himself.
In my role as Production Executive, I was responsible for approval of the script and budget. In a key decision, we shot in broadcast HD in case the film was received well. (The investors originally had intended to use a pro-sumer video camera.)
In the end, the video was converted to film negative, re-mixed in THX and shown at several festivals from New York to Europe. Quinceanera ended up at the Sundance Film Festival in 2006 and won the Grand Jury Prize and Audience Award.
